A Skidmore man facing two counts of first-degree murder has requested a change of venue. Keevin Maupin was arrested and charged with those counts, as well as two counts of armed criminal action, in April.

Any Missourian living in a county with less than 75,000 residents, which includes 99 of Missouri's 115 counties, has the right to ask the state supreme court for a venue change. Maupin's request specifically cites public attention and media coverage of the case, and Maupin's long history in Nodaway County, which may color any potential juror's opinion.
