The following are health inspections in Nodaway County. Inspections are released monthly.

Note that COS means corrected on site.

Violations:

  1. Handwashing not available with soap and paper towels.

Violations:

  1. Tea and water on the floor. COS.

Non-critical:

  1. Box of cups on floor in storeroom.
  2. Discussed trash retention area.

Sonic Drive-In-721 S. Main (8-26-26)

Critical:

  1. Chili not held at 135° or higher.
  2. Cheese and onions not held at 41° or lower. Added ice to ice well. COS.

Non-critical:

  1. Tea containers not covered. COS.
  2. Dumpster lid open.
  3. Tiles cracked, chipped and broken. Ceiling tiles taped.

America's Best Value Inn & Suites-1700 E. 1st (8-26-26)

Critical:

  1. No 3-bay sink. Using utility sink and tubs, no hand sink, but converting nearby meeting room bathroom into a kitchen sink area. 3-bay  and hand sinks present, but not installed.

Cobblestone Inn-2 Fall Drive (8-25-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Improper thawing: pasteurized liquid egg on countertop to thaw.
  2. Air fry oven needs to be cleaned.

Finish Line-620 N. Main (8-21-26)

Critical:

  1. Many medicines past expiry: Sudafed (Aug 25), Children's Advil (Feb 26), Tylenol (Feb 26 and Apr 25), Night Cold and Flu (July 25), Day Cold and Flu (Nov 2025), Nyquil (May, July, & August 26). Expired meds must be discarded.

Non-critical:

  1. Ice bagged on premises not labeled with store name and address.
  2. Long Day cans in undrained ice water.
  3. Damaged flooring by sinks and ice maker.
  4. Ceiling in beer cave dusty and mildewed by cooling units.
  5. Unshielded light bulbs in back storeroom.

No violations.

Holiday Inn Express-2929 S. Main (8-19-26)

Non-critical:

  1. Wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer.
  2. Towel lining a shelf, with possible oven leak.

  1. Discussed hair and beard nets.

  2. Microwaves need to be cleaned.
  3. Ventilation- odors in restroom.
  4. Restroom doors propped open when not in use to aid with ventilation.

Critical:

  1. Unlabeled spray bottles.
  2. Cold foods not held at 41° or lower: cut peppers, corned beef, chicken. COS.

Non-critical:

  1. Bad door gaskets on 3-door refrigerator is storage shed.
  2. Peeling flooring in kitchen.
  3. Kitchen back door propped open.

Gelu Northland-Italian Ice Truck (8-10-26)

No violations.

Break Time-1517 E. 1st (8-7-26)

Critical:

  1. Unlabeled spray bottle at pizza prep table.

Discussed getting Chester's Chicken.

Dairy Queen-1912 S. Main (8-4-26)

Discussed employee drinks and designated areas.

Non-critical:

  1. Mildew/stained caulking behind 3-bay sink.
  2. No beard net.

Powerhouse-424 N. Buchanan (8-3-26)

Non-critcal:

  1. Refrigeration units need thermometers.
  2. No test kits for sanitizer.

Meets minimum health code requirements for liquor.
