Starting Monday, drivers will be unable to access Hawk Road north of Maryville. Crews with Herzog will close the road, and narrow U.S. 71 there, to repair bridge barriers and install new guardrails.
Access for Hawk Road is currently planned to be restored by June 20th. The work is part of an ongoing resurfacing project for U.S. Route 136 in Nodaway and Atchison counties. 71 will also be narrowed to one lane at the White Cloud Creek bridge, with temporary traffic lights.
At this time, resurfacing for 71 is complete from the Iowa border to 136, with resurfacing to continue south in late July, before wrapping up by the end of August.
