DENT COUNTY —A child died in an accident just after 7a.m. Wednesday in Dent County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Chevrolet Spark driven by a 60-year-old Salem man was eastbound on Highway 72 near County Road 2300. The car crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2015 Dodge Charger driven by a 31-year-old Salem woman.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Salem Ambulance transported the driver of the Dodge and two passengers including a 1-year-old girl and an infant girl to Salem Memorial Hospital. Just before 8:30a.m., the infant was. pronounced deceased. The occupants of the Dodge were properly restrained. The driver of the car was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
