KCPD: Boy shot and killed by random gunfire

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Just after 2:30p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to 100 NE St. Luke’s Boulevard on a reported shooting that is believed to have occurred near 88th Place and James A Reed, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

Upon arrival, officers were advised a boy under 16 arrived at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical staff made every attempt to perform life saving measures before subsequently being pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the boy was walking outside when he heard several sounds of shots and was struck by gunfire. He was able to call a friend for help and a private vehicle picked him up and transported him to the hospital.

Police do not have any suspect information and no one is currently in custody.
