Busy weekend for fire crews in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —It was a busy weekend for firefighters in Kansas City, Missouri.

Just before 12:30a.m. Saturday, crews were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 2600 block of Chelsea Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan. The first arriving company reported heavy smoke showing from a one-and-a-half story house, and an offensive fire attack was initiated. Two hose lines were advanced into the structure to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control at 12:47 a.m.

Searches were conducted throughout the structure and came back "all clear."  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Just after 5a.m. Sunday, crews were dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the 2900 block of Wabash Avenue, according to Nolan.

The first arriving company reported fire showing from a three-story apartment building and an offensive fire attack was initiated. Two hose lines were advanced into the basement of the structure to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control at 5:14 a.m. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire has not been releases.

Just after 5p.m Sunday, KCFD crews were dispatched to a reported fire in the 2600 block of Drury Avenue. The first arriving company reported smoke showing from a single-story house and initiated and offensive fire attack with two hose lines.  The fire was quickly brought under control at 5:24 p.m. Searches were conducted throughout the structure and came back "all clear." The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD. No injuries have been reported from this incident.

Just before 6p.m. Sunday, crews responded to a reported fire in the 9000 block of North Mersington Avenue, according to Nolan. 

The first arriving company reported nothing showing from a single-story house. After entering and investigating, they found a fire in the basement of the structure and initiated an offensive fire attack with two hose lines. The fire was brought under control by 6:11 p.m. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD.
