Northwest President Dr. Lance Tatum said in a release, "Dr. Skinner brings a distinguished career in student affairs leadership with decades of experience dedicated to advancing student success, engagement and well-being. I look forward to the leadership, energy and perspective he will bring to our campus community and executive team."

He'll be filling the shoes of Dr. Charlie Fey, who in turn served the position in the interim after Dr. Matt Baker left to become President of Emporia State University.

Skinner has been with SEMO since 1999, climbing the professional ladder from hall director.

Skinner himself said, "I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a college town where everyone I spoke to had only positive things to say about the University. The University and Maryville connection is special."

Skinner has a doctorate in education leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He earned a Master's in public administration and  Bachelor's in political science from SEMO.
