ELMO, Mo. — A Clarinda man was injured in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Nodaway County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. on Route KK at 135th Street, approximately one mile north of Elmo. Authorities report that a 28-year-old male from Elmo, driving a 2008 Dodge Magnum, was heading southbound on Route KK when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to cross the center line.
The front driver’s side of the Dodge struck the rear driver’s side of a northbound 2008 Chevy 1500 pickup, driven by a 66-year-old Clarinda man. Both vehicles came to rest off the east side of the road.
The Clarinda man, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Nodaway County Ambulance to Clarinda Regional Health Center. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
Responding agencies included the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office, Nodaway County Ambulance, and the Elmo Fire Department.
