KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces charges in connection with a shooting that occurred outside a funeral earlier this year.
Anthony Medley, 39, faces one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and one count of Armed Criminal Action, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson. In this case, both offenses carry up to 15 years in prison each.

According to court records, Kansas City police officers were working security for a funeral in an off-duty capacity, in full uniform on Feb. 27, when they heard multiple gunshots.
Bullets struck two people, the front of the church, four vehicles, and one of the off-duty officers was struck by glass shrapnel from a bullet striking a nearby window.
Surveillance footage captured a yellow Dodge Charger circling the area prior to the shooting. Then, multiple gunshots could be heard on camera, followed by a second volley of gunshots. As the second volley of gunshots were heard, the yellow Dodge Charger fled at a high rate of speed.
Multiple witnesses also reported seeing a driver of a yellow Dodge Charger exiting the vehicle and firing shots toward the church. An occupant of another vehicle shot back at the suspect in the yellow Dodge Charger.
Detectives used witness descriptions of the shooter, license plate readers, cell phone data, and additional video surveillance to identify Medley as the suspect. He is being held without bond.
