Missouri could face millions in SNAP costs under One Big Beautiful Bill changes.
Missouri could be on the hook for millions of dollars in food assistance costs under changes included in the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Beginning in 2027, states with SNAP payment error rates of 6 percent or higher will be required to cover part of the program's benefit costs.
Missouri's latest error rate was nearly 8-point-7 percent, above the federal threshold that triggers penalties. State leaders still have time to lower that rate before the changes take effect
