Suspect in custody after KC apartment fight turned deadly

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.

Just before 7p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a reported shooting at an apartment near 12th and Askew in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

First reponders found a man outside of the residence matching the suspect description.. That individual was immediately taken into police custody for further investigation.

Officers began to search the residence for any potential victims of violent crime and located man in a bedroom suffering from life threatening gunshot trauma and an additional man unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid for both victim until EMS responded and took over.

One victim was declared deceased at the scene and the additional was transported to an area hospital. 

Preliminary investigation indicated an argument took place that escalated into shots being fired. Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel  responded to the scene to begin gathering additional witness statements and collect any evidence.
