HARVEY COUNTY – A Kansas man is going to prison for child sex crimes.
On October 7, Chief Judge Michael Llamas sentenced Terrence Sanseda, 24, of Newton, Kansas, to maximum possible sentence of 68 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for 5 counts of sexual exploitation of a child for possession of images of child sexual abuse material, according to the Harvey County Attorney's office.
In sentencing Sanseda to the maximum sentence in prison, Chief Judge Llamas described Sanseda’s actions as horrible and vile. In addition to time in prison, Sanseda will be subject to lifetime post-release supervision and registration as a sex offender.
“Possession of child sexual abuse material is not a victimless crime, and its harm does not end when the image or video is created. Every time the material is possessed or shared, a child is victimized again. Our children deserve to grow up safe from those who would exploit them, and, as County Attorney, I will continue to aggressively pursue those who create, possess, or distribute child sexual abuse material and hold them accountable for the harm they inflict.”
In June, Sanseda entered guilty pleas in Harvey County District Court to 5 counts of sexual exploitation of a child for possession of images of child sexual abuse material, according to Harvey County Attorney Heather L. Figger.
The successful prosecution of this case was made possible with the dedicated assistance of the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Newton Police Department.
