Mo. school employee fired, jailed for alleged inappropriate relation with student

LAFAYETTE COUNTY—Law enforcement and the Lexington school district are investigating alleged inappropriate behavior between a school district employee and a student.

On Wednesday, the Lexington Police Department was contacted by the Lexington R-5 School district regarding inappropriate relations between a student and a staff member, according to a media release from po lice.

Both the Police Department and the School District took swift action. We currently have the suspect held at the Lafayette County Jail on a 24 hr hold pending charges. The suspect's employment at the school was terminated. Police did not release the employee's name.

On their social media page the school district wrote, "The District is aware of the allegations involving a student against a former staff member. The District has been working with law enforcement as it conducts an investigation."

"While there is no indication that any alleged misconduct occurred on campus or in connection with any District program or activity, failing to maintain boundaries with students in any setting is unacceptable."

"The safety and well-being of our students is, and will always remain, our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students. Please direct any questions from the community, the media, or Minutemen families to the Lexington R-V Board of Education Building."
