KANSAS CITY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in an apartment building in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just before 3a.m. Sunday, Kansas City Fire Department companies were dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the 2300 block of East 9th Street, according to Battalion Chief Riley Nolan.
On arrival, the first company reported heavy fire showing from the second and third floors of two separate structures, both vacant three-story apartment buildings.
The decision was made to initiate a defensive fire attack on both locations, and additional companies were added to the response. Multiple hand lines and aerial master streams from the truck companies were utilized to bring both fires control by 3:59 a.m.
Searches were conducted throughout both structures and came back all clear.
City Planning and Dangerous Buildings have been requested to the scene.KCPD Bomb & Arson have also been requested and will be investigating the cause of the fires.
No injuries have been reported from this incident.
