Nodaway County Health Inspections (October 2026)

The following are health inspections in Nodaway County. Inspections are released monthly.

Note that COS means corrected on site.

Simply Siam-314 N. Main (10/29/26)

Critical:

  1. Foods not held at 41° or below: Pork loin, beef, chicken all between 45-47° in cooler. After defrosting and turned back on, temperatures were down to 40° by the end of the inspection. COS.
  2. Foods not held at 41° or lower in prep table: Beef, crab, onion. Prep table was plugged in, emptied, cooled, and refilled. COS.
  3. Unlabeled spray bottles. COS.
  4. Not all bagged food items are properly labeled.

Non-critical:

  1. Flooring in disrepair in kitchen and back rooms.
  2. Back door in disrepair & not sealing adequately.

Horace Mann Elementary-800 University Drive (10/28/26)

No violations.

Applebee's-2919 S. Main (10/21/26)

Critical:

  1. Foods not held at 41° or below: pasta, chicken breast, steaks, shrimp, ribs, and cheese. Under grill refrigerator was found to be unplugged. Product pulled and replenished, with unit plugged in and functioning. COS.

Non-critical:

  1. Top of single-door fridge- lots of dust.
  2. Tile missing above single-door fridge.
  3. Deep cleaning needed along walls and behind equipment.

Discussed hair and beard restraints.

Nodaway County Senior Center-1214 E. 1st (10/20/26)

Non-critical:

  1. Carboard and contact paper on some shelving.

The Corner Perk-324 N. Main (10/19/26)

Critical:

  1. Wiping cloth sanitizer too weak.

Non-critical:

  1. Foods separated from original packaging not labeled.
  2. No self-closer on restroom door.

Haven Coffee & Goods-105 E. 4th (10/19/26)

Non-critical:

  1. Tub of brown sugar not labeled. COS.
  2. Unfinished walls and ceiling in store room.
  3. Front door propped open.

Conception Abbey-37174 Hwy VV, Conception (10/16/26)

Follow-up from 10/6 inspection:
Critical:

  1. Ice machine still has pink slime on upper baffle.
  2. Student line closed- uncheckable.
  3. Guest line hot hold foods fine.
  4. Guest line cold hold foods not at 41° or below: Melon, berries, cottage cheese, cheese, lettuce, pulled pork.
  5. No living roaches seen. Several dead, as well as assorted dead bugs and cobwebs in window bays.
  6. Unlabeled spray bottle in dishroom.

Non-critical:

  1. Grease still running out of oven and into floor drain.
  2. Broken lid on rice tub.
  3. Vent hood needs cleaning.
  4. Ceiling tiles missing above dishwasher.

Pizza Hut-732 S. Main (10/15/26)

Non-critical:

  1. Broken hinge on small prep table. Part ordered.
  2. Dumpster lids open.
  3. Damaged tile by walk-in cooler door frame.
  4. Broken light cover in men's room.

Pagliai's Pizza-611 S. Main (10/13/26)

  1. A few refrigerator units do not have thermometers.
  2. Flooring worn in front of pizza oven
  3. Several damaged tiles throughout dining areas.

Tuck Point Bar & Grill-121 S. Main (10/9/26)

Non-critical:

  1. Missing door handle on upright freezer.
  2. Vent hood due to be cleaned.
  3. Grease on floor under, beside, and behind fryer.

Northeast Nodaway R-5-126 S. High School Ave. (10/9/26)

Critical:

  1. Hot foods not at 135° or above (hot dogs). COS.
  2. Cold foods not at 41° or below: Lettuce, peaches.

Non-critical:

  1. Bad door gaskets on 2-door fridge and milk cooler.
  2. Could not find thermometers in any refrigeration unit.

South Nodaway R-4-209 Morehouse, Barnard (10/7/26)

Non-critical:

  1. Wiping cloths not store in sanitizer.

Conception Abbey-37174 Hwy VV, Conception (10/6/26)

Critical:

  1. Ice machine- pink slime mold.
  2. Corn dogs at student food line not held at 135°.
  3. Cold foods not held at 41° or below: cottage cheese, peaches, bean salad.
  4. Live roaches in dishroom.
  5. Cobwebs and dead bugs in window bays.
  6. Unlabeled spray bottle in dishroom.

Non-critical:

  1. Grease running out from under oven.
  2. Vent hood needs to be cleaned.
  3. Broken lid on rice tub.
  4. Ceiling tiles missing above dishwasher and one in main kitchen.
