KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating the death of a woman after her remains were located and positively identified.
On June 3, police took a report of a missing person that indicated 41-year-old Amber Simpson had been last seen in Kansas City approximately May 10, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
The KCPD Missing Persons Section began a missing persons investigation at that time. Through the course of the investigation detectives were led to an address in Nelson, Missouri where they located human skeletal remains.
This week those remains were positively identified by the medical examiner as Amber Simpson.
Missing Persons Detectives are continuing with the investigation in Kansas City as a death investigation at this time. As part of the death investigation they are looking to hear from anyone that may have had contact with Amber around the first part of May in Kansas City and may have more information regarding the events surrounding her disappearance.

Detectives are collaborating with the Jackson County Prosecutors Office as well as the Saline County, Missouri Prosecutors Office regarding identification and potential applicable charges associated with subject(s) of interested who are identified.
