Downtown Maryville announced Tuesday that registration is open for the 2026 Downtown Maryville Pumpkin Growing Contest.
Area growers have a chance at prizes for growing the biggest gourd they can, with last year's winners, 833 and 570 pounds apiece, both having seeds available for this year. Seeds are available while supply lasts.
The contest is open to anyone within a 100-mile radius of Nodaway County, but participants must be registered by June 15th.
Weigh-ins are set for October 8th and 9th, depending on your pumpkin's diameter. Winners will be announced at October 10th's Fall into Fun event.
