The Missouri Restaurant Association is “on-board” with the Kansas City Chief’s quest to host a future Super Bowl.
Spokesman Trey Meyers, however, says they would not want a repeat of what happened during this summer’s World Cup.
"The revenue generation they were expecting for a huge international event just didn't come to fruition," Meyers says
Meyers says, however, they learned some tough lessons during this summer’s World Cup.
"Transportation was a problem. Many people just wanted to stay with them where all those activations were, which were in downtown Kansas City," Meyers explains.
A post-World Cup survey found half the restaurants in the area lost money during the event. Meyers says a lot of local patrons stayed home, out of fears of big crowds that did not materialize.
The Chiefs want to host the Super Bowl at the team’s new stadium in 2033, 2034, or 2035.
