JOHNSON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 11a.m. Tuesday in Johnson County.

Overland Park police reported a Mercedes-Benz was westbound on 107th Street in Overland Park and ran a red light at Nall Avenue. This initiated a chain-reaction collision in the intersection.

The Mercedes first struck a Honda whose driver was turning eastbound onto 107th Street from southbound Nall Avenue. The Mercedes then struck a Toyota that was turning westbound onto 107th Street from northbound Nall Avenue. The force of that impact pushed the Toyota into a Volkswagen stopped at the red light on eastbound 107th Street.

Johnson County Med-Act rushed the driver of the Honda, identified as Randall Stevens, 73, Parkville, Missouri to an area hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes was also transported to a hospital. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the Toyota or Volkswagen.
