Glen Walter Sheirbon passed away at the Shenandoah Medical Center on September 15, 2025, at the age of 99. He was born on March 10, 1926, in Randolph, Iowa, the tenth child of George and Bertha Sheirbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; all his brothers and sisters; and his beloved wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Stephens) Sheirbon. He is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Moya and Larry Peterson of Overland Park, KS, and Yona and Rick Schroeder of Shawnee, KS; grandson, Brandon Peterson and Janell and their children, Gavin and Colin; granddaughter, Amanda Peterson and Amanda and their daughter, Arleigh; grandson, Harrison Schroeder and Lucy; grandson, Cameron Schroeder and Clarissa and their sons, Ely, Ryan and Kaleb; grandson, Trenton Schroeder and Hailey; and many other relatives.
Glen was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was proud of being a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 65 years. He loved to bowl, and some of his fondest memories were traveling with his bowling buddies to national tournaments throughout the United States. His greatest enjoyment came from singing. He had a high tenor voice and for many years sang in the Ed May Barbershop Quartet. He also participated in musicals at the Southwest Iowa Theater Group and performances with other musical organizations. Glen also served for many years at the Shenandoah Community Food Pantry. He loved God above all and was very active serving his church as song leader, board member and all-around handy man. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shenandoah.
After the Air Force, Glen moved into his newly built home on E. Pioneer with his wife and new family. We are so grateful for the caregivers who helped him stay in his home until 2022 when he needed more assistance. We are also very thankful for the care he received at Homestead of Shenandoah and most recently at Accura Healthcare. He was a great man and leaves a beautiful legacy. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
