Mark Eugene Rice was born on December 30, 1958, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jackie Eugene Rice and Marilyn Frances (Ellis Rice) Sage. He passed away on February 18, 2026, in Loveland, Colorado, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 19 days.

In his early days, Mark lived in Shenandoah, Iowa, where he graduated from Shenandoah High School. On May 14, 1996, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Smith in Wells, Nevada. The couple resided in Malvern, Iowa, before moving to Johnstown, Colorado, and then made their home in Loveland, Colorado.

While living in Malvern, he worked at Standard Chemical Mill, J & N Fertilizer, and drove a truck and worked at the gas station for his father in Shenandoah. He later worked for Oakland Foods in Oakland, Iowa. After moving to Colorado, Mark worked at Johnstown Feed and Seed and for his last 35 years, he worked for Sweetheart Lanes (Sweetheart Bowling Center) in Loveland.

He was an avid bowler with many 300 games. Mark was entered into the USBC Hall of Fame in 2018 and participated in several USBC Open National events. He loved watching sports, especially motocross with Darell. He was the life of the party, and loved cooking and grilling for everyone.

Preceding Mark in death was the love of his life, Sharon; father, Jack Rice; and brother, Brandon Rice. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Marilyn Sage; brother, Rick and Kay Rice; sister, Jackie and Steve Henderson; sister-in-law, Tracey Rice; Sharon’s son, Michael Davis (Tonda); grandchildren, Dakota Davis (Victoria), Paige Wigley (Gunnels), Taylor Davis, Destiny Archer, and Vanessa Archer (Payton); several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many more that loved him.
