Charlene Lucille Wiederholt Zimmerman Hunt, daughter and the eighth of nine children of Lawrence Joseph and Irene Mary (Wonderly) Wiederholt, was born on February 18, 1940, in Clyde, Missouri, and entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 9, 2026.

Lucille grew up on a farm near Conception, Missouri. She had many loved memories of Mom and Dad, eight brothers and sisters and wonderful cousins. Orchards, gardens, chickens, cattle, pigs, horses and crops kept them all working together. Playing outdoors with cousins and neighbors was the entertainment.

She attended the Catholic school in Conception through eighth grade and graduated with honors from Jefferson High School of rural Tri C area in 1958. She attended classes in Management and Programming at lowa Western Community College in her later years.

Lucille met the love of her life, Lawrence F. (Larry) Zimmerman, while working at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri in 1958. They were married on February 7, 1959, at the Conception Abbey Basilica. To this union two beautiful daughters were born, Linda Christine and Lita Carol.

Lucille and Larry moved from Missouri to the Farragut, lowa, area in August of 1959. Many happy years were spent living on the Troxel farm with their two little girls. There was never a dull moment in the household with so many pets-including Hank the German Shepherd, cats, coyote, goat, and yard bunnies-, farm animals, gardening, playing outdoors with the girls, sledding, riding bikes and just walking to the windmill. The girls loved going to Maryville to visit with their grandparents and cousins. Fun trips included taking the girls to the Branson and Silver Dollar City area. In Larry and Lucille's younger years, they traveled the United States on a motorcycle and tent-camped.

In the early seventies they moved into Farragut. She worked part time for her friend Maxine Butts at Maxine's restaurant while the girls were in grade school. She then took a full time job at Henry Field Seed and Nursery Company in Shenandoah until the general offices were moved out of state in July of 1986. She loved her job and the people she worked with and the Henry Field group became a big family. She then became Deputy Treasurer in the Fremont County Treasurer's Office on January 2, 1987.

During those years Larry and Lucille traveled and loved fishing and camping with their grandson, Tommy. Michael loved going to the lake to ride and fish while boating. Spending time with her family was very special. Those wonderful memories lasted a lifetime.

In 1992 she ran for the elected position of Fremont County Auditor and won her first election. She served as Fremont County Auditor from November 10, 1992, and was elected every four years until her retirement June 30, 2004.

Lucille's husband, Lawrence F. Zimmerman, died suddenly on the job while driving a semi truck loaded with feed in Minnesota on May 3, 1993.

It was in the Fremont County Courthouse where she met Richard N. Hunt, the Fremont County Magistrate. On October 9, 1994, she was united in marriage to Richard N. Hunt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. She then moved to Sidney, lowa. Lucille gained one stepdaughter Susie (Tim) Tillman and two stepsons, James Hunt and Randy (Donna) Hunt.

Dick and Lucille traveled to many in-state business meetings and always took a couple of the younger grandkids with them. Tyler and Chelsea were usually the first ones in the car followed by Michael, Jonathan and David. She always said they stopped at every bridge so they could throw a bottle with a note in it for someone to find. They loved traveling with Niehart Tours, especially to Branson. They loved vacationing and traveling with their friends. Lucille also loved attending Auditor meetings with other County Auditors for days of work and then shop till you drop!

Lucille retired as Fremont County Auditor on June 30, 2004, and she and Dick prepared to move to Shenandoah, Iowa. They continued their tours and she worked as a volunteer in various groups. In the meantime, Dick ran for and became Mayor of Shenandoah and continued as Mayor until his retirement in December of 2021.
