George Franklin Barker, a beloved resident of Maryville, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 24th, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, George lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to those around him.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Berniece Barker, his brother Carlon Barker, his sister Janice Gladden, and his grandson Daniel Fitzmier.

He is survived by his son, Ray Fitzmier of Maryville, MO, and his daughter-in-law, Dawn Ackerson of Fort Worth, TX. George was a proud grandfather to Justin Fitzmier and Andrew Kridler, and a cherished great-grandfather to Myah, Caden, Sophia, Maggie, Trey, Gunner, A.J., and Kaylex. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss him dearly.

George's educational journey took him to Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska, where he laid the foundation for a life of service and community involvement. He worked as a Pic Operator at Lutheran Technology, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. In addition to his professional life, George served as a reservist, demonstrating his commitment to his country.

A man of many interests, George loved people and cherished the time spent visiting with friends and family. He had a passion for playing cards, traveling, and collecting just about anything that caught his eye. Though he never had children of his own, George was a father figure to many, offering guidance and support as if they were his own.

George's life will be celebrated and remembered by all who knew him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home. No services are planned.

George Franklin Barker will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
