Clifford Dean “Skeet” Schoonover, the son of George Edward Sr. and Lena Bertha (Erdman) Schoonover, was born May 15, 1935, in Rock Port, Missouri. He attended Rock Port High School.
On December 7, 1956, Skeet was united in marriage to Shirley Marie George at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together. They made their home in Rock Port and became parents of one daughter, Stephanie. Shirley passed away in December of 2023.
Skeet was employed in Autobody for Ford until they closed in the late 1980’s. He then was employed by Pfeil’s Autobody and in 1996, Skeet owned and operated Skeet’s Body Shop, retiring in 2017.
Skeet was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family. Skeet passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, in Clarinda, Iowa, at the age of 90.
Besides his parents and wife, Shirley Schoonover, Skeet was preceded in death by siblings, George Schoonover, Jr., Betty Henry, and Shirley Mather. Survivors include daughter, Stephanie (Mark) Hull, Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Amy Roop and Erin (James) Hash, both of Clarinda; nine great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; siblings, Robert Schoonover and Janice Murry; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
